As required by the Clery Act, Campus Safety is providing this follow-up on the March 8 lockdown exercise.

On March 8, 2017 at 10:35 am, Campus Safety conducted an announced test of the University's emergency notification systems and lockdown procedures:

  • A text and email alert was sent via Blackboard Connect to 7,244 student and employee email addresses, and to 5,313 student and employee cell phone numbers.
  • An audible announcement was made via the newly installed PA system at the Bell Tower and approximately 40 desktop phone intercoms in Metzger, Student Services, and the Campus Safety Office.
  • The Blackboard Transact card reader system was used to lock all card-reader doors.
  • Campus Safety personnel followed established procedures to lock down the perimeter of campus.

Concurrent with the lockdown exercise, Campus Safety Officers and Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department participated in a joint active shooter response training simulation at the Student Union Building.
