Dear Biola community,

Welcome to the Spring 2017 semester! I hope that the holidays and our final Interterm provided you with some time for reflection and refreshment.

This Wednesday, February 1, we will be holding our Spring Convocation Chapel in Chase Gymnasium at 9:30 a.m. This year's convocation will be extra special, as we will celebrate the establishment of our three newest schools — the School of Science, Technology and Health; the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; and the School of Fine Arts and Communication. We will also hear a message from notable alumnus Michael Horton ('87) and celebrate the completion of our five-year fundraising effort, A Soul of Conviction, A Voice of Courage: The Campaign for Biola University.

The campaign, which sought to raise $180 million for the university, officially ended on Dec. 31, 2016, and at chapel Wednesday morning I will announce, for the first time publicly, the total amount raised by the campaign.

I would also like to let you know that later that morning, instead of lunch in the Cafe, we will have a special community lunch on Metzger Lawn, beginning at 11:30 a.m., to celebrate the completion of the campaign and announce the specifics of what the money raised is funding. I will be giving a short address at 12:20 p.m., so be sure you stick around for that!

Please plan on joining me for these events on Wednesday, as we gather together at the start of 2017 to celebrate, reflect and press on in the task of educating men and women in mind and character to impact the world for Christ.

Gratefully,

Barry H. Corey
