That's Sick...

Hey Peeps,

Due to the season that we are in and the recent outbreak of colds and flu’s, I’m going to share some tips with you guys on how to keep yourself well and not get sick while you’re at college. College is a very vulnerable time in your life where you are destined to get sick, at least once a semester. I’m not necessarily the best to be giving this advice since I am constantly getting sick, however some of these tips can help you for future awareness.

  1. Get Plenty of Rest

Although college is a great time to stay up late and hang out with friends. Sleep is super important for your well-being. So, even if you only sleep a few hours at night, make sure you try to take a nap sometime throughout the day to allow for your body to rest.

  1. Eat Healthy

Biola does a great job of providing plenty of healthy foods from our Café and plenty of other eateries on campus. However, the hard part is actually choosing to eat the healthy foods instead of all the other foods they have out. Eating healthy allows for our bodies to have the right vitamins and nutrients it needs to fight off bacteria and viruses. Although the pizza and ice cream is always a great choice in the Caf, try to switch it up every once and a while and have some veggies.../Desktop/strawberyy.jpg

  1. Time Management

Something that is super important that will 100% help you not get sick is being stress free! I know this is not an easy task, but if you’re able to manage your time well it will help you not get sick. Stress suppresses your immune system and makes it a lot easier for you to get sick.

  1. Wash Yo Hands

It sounds simple enough, but washing your hands can tremendously help you when you don’t want to be sick. Try to wash your hands every time you are in an area with a sink, at least that’s what I do. Washing your hands prevents illness and spreading all those gross bacteria’s.

  1. Drink Tea

I’m not sure how accurate this tip is; but I always feel like tea makes me feel better when I’m not feeling well. That’s why I’m adding it to this list. However, if you do end up getting sick, even after taking all these tips into account, you can always visit Biola’s Health Center. They are open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and are always very welcoming if you need assistance on anything.

I hope that some of these tips will help you when you decide to go off to college. If they don’t however, you can always check out our health center or drive home and have your Mom, Dad, or Grandma take care of you. That always makes me feel better.

Until Next Time,
