Hello! I know that I've talked about experiences that have stood out to me as a student at Biola. However, it just occurred to me that I've never talked to you about how I even decided to come to Biola University. But hey, it's not too late to change that, so here we go!

First of all, I was not very proactive about looking into colleges and never worried about the whole application process because I always assumed I had “plenty of time” to do so later. At least, that’s what I told my mom every time she would try and persuade me to get on top of the search process. After I did start looking around at colleges, I heard about Biola University because I lived pretty close to the campus. However, I never really imagined myself going there because of how close it was. So, after initially writing Biola off but knowing that I wanted to go to a school where I could pursue film as a career; I started going to college fairs and just checking out the options. I went to one Christian college fair where I walked around asking schools about their film programs, and a good amount of schools said to check out Biola's program! This was a bit confusing because I didn't understand why other schools were promoting Biola's film program. And it wasn’t just a few college representatives saying that, but probably the majority of the room told me look into Biola.

So finally, I decided to just give it a try and see what they had to offer. Needless to say, I was impressed. I really loved the hands-on learning curriculum, so I signed up for a tour and to check it out in person. By this time I had already visited other campuses and was getting kind of bored of the typical tour experience, but the moment I stepped onto Biola’s campus I knew something was different. It’s hard to explain the feeling, but the people here made the tour feel a lot more personal. I was trying to figure out why this campus felt so different, and, although it sounds cheesy, when I was on Biola’s campus I didn’t feel like I was at any ordinary university... I felt like I was at a home away from home.

Looking back, that tour and visit was the deciding factor for me to come to Biola. Now that I live here, I can honestly say that I 100% made the right decision and wouldn’t change it. The community around me is very strong, encouraging, and inviting with Christ at the center. I love Biola University and I'm glad to be able to come here to study.
