I’m sure many of us have made plans that fell through in the end, leaving us feeling alone. Maybe it was a hassle or perhaps it was a blessing that those plans fell through. Either way, more often than not, we’re left feeling frustrated.

“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” - 2 Chronicles 15:7

Lately, I’ve had a lot of plans fall through, which has left me questioning why this has been the case. In these situations, I completely understand why an initial reaction may be to give up. Lord knows I have done my fair share of doing so. My encouragement to you is to not give up. Perhaps the door closed so that a better one can open? I know that may sound like the cliché Christian thing to say but God hasn’t left me hanging. Recently, I had future plans, plans related to my career, cancel on me. These weren’t average plans like going to the lake for the weekend or getting coffee with an old friend; they were plans I had been praying about since I was in middle school. And they just fell through. But I will not falter or be discouraged. Instead, I will continue to persist and pray for the Lord’s perfect timing.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

I implore whomever may be reading this to never cease in the pursuit of your goal. But also, be open to the plan of God, even if that so happens to uproot your original plan. Whether it be a grade you needed for a specific award, an important scholarship, or an acceptance to the school of your dreams, the Lord has a lesson and plan for your well-being. Times may seem rough and the plan that fell through may cause more confusion and frustration than answers, but persistence will lead to a greater answer you never thought possible. I truly hope this little piece of encouragement is useful. Wherever you may be in life, whatever grade or pivotal point, I hope you continue to move forward in the face of discouragement. I cannot stress enough how good the Lord is, and His eternal plan for your life is far better than any worldly plan we can conjure up ourselves. Trust in that.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
