Look, friends, I’m not going to lie to ya.
It has been a bit of a week.
Schoolwork hit me like a ton of bricks, I had other obligations that kept me from working on my assignments a lot of the time, and my stress is starting to take a toll. Aside from school, I have other things going on in my life that don’t seem to be working for me right now. I woke up this morning literally buzzing (I could feel it all the way down to my toes) with anxiety. I have been praying all day.
And yet, I am grateful. I just got back from Singspo (one of Biola’s chapels) and the theme was “remembering”. Remembering how powerful our God is. How righteous. How faithful. How loving. The reality of life is pain. This is not to incite fear into your hearts–oh no. But to believe that pain will not come is unrealistic. Pain is a difficult reality. Yet, in our struggles, it is easy to fail to remember– to instead forget. Forget that God is all of the aforementioned qualities and more. God is constant and He loves us.
One of the songs we sang at chapel today, “Running in Circles” by United Pursuit, says, “I’m so forgetful, but you always remind me/ You’re the only one who brings me peace”. Sometimes, it seems like I’m grasping at straws. Like the daily grind is wearing down on my body and mind. But where we fail, friends, God does not. We must remember that He has moved mountains bigger than this. When the storms of life come, remember that there is a God who is sovereign. I am not saying that you will definitely find yourself in this exact situation that I am in. But if you do feel down and out, just know that you have a Father and a Friend. At the end of the day, even though we may not feel great, we can remember what He has done and who He is. We can be grateful.
If you ever need to remember, here’s a mini playlist of all of the songs that I listen to when life is extra stressful. Be blessed!
