Dr. Joanne Jung is an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies and Spiritual Formation at Biola University. She is a serious student of the Word of God, a deep lover of people and deep discipleship relationships, and a seeker of Christ-centered living informed by the wisdom of past saints. Beyond teaching undergraduate students, Dr. Jung’s main ministry occurs in serving and teaching at her church NewSong Church in Irvine. She is also a frequent speaker at conferences women’s retreats, and in 2006 she was honored with “Manchester Who’s Who Among Female Christian Leaders and Professionals”.
She received a B.S. in Home Economics from Cal State University, Los Angeles in 1975. She went on to receive a M.A in Bible Exposition from Talbot School of Theology in 2001, graduating with highest honors. Then in 2007, she earned her Ph.D. in Theology at Fuller Seminary, with her dissertation entitled “Conference: Rediscovering a Communal Tradition of Puritan Piety”.
She released her first book in 2011, titled Knowing Grace: Cultivating a Lifestyle of Godliness. Her particular fields of study are in hermeneutics and spiritual formation, especially as they overlap and are enriched by her particular research interest, the English Puritans.
