All you need to do to have a class schedule assigned for your first semester is to fill out an academic profile. The profile is online now and should be filled out by May 1st. Keep an eye on the mail from Biola to get the exact link.
There are no “extra” costs to receive a schedule of classes. However, you must pay the $100 enrollment deposit to participate.
If you have been accepted to Biola, you should go ahead and fill out the profile online even if you aren't sure you will attend. Once you have made your decision, just send in your $100 enrollment deposit and we will start working on your schedule.
Biola offers 33 different majors with 72 different emphases. For information, visit our majors and courses section. Be sure to note that some majors require separate applications.
No problem! Just email the Office of Academic Advising at academic.advising@biola.edu and we will make the necessary adjustments.
While it is certainly possible for you to earn a double major or double minor at Biola, we recommend you wait until your second semester to inquire about the process. It is best to concentrate on one major your first semester.
All of the schedules will be mailed out around July 15th. With your schedule, you will receive instructions on completing your registration starting August 1.
Minor changes can be made to your schedule when you complete final registration online. However, the classes you have been given are those recommended by your major so any major changes should be verified by the Office of Academic Advising. Also, we have placed you in classes with other students in your major. You will be taking many of the same general education and Bible classes together along with classes in your majors so changing your schedule may exclude you from your cohort.
While we get you started in the right direction by placing you in certain classes your first semester at Biola, you will choose your own schedule for the spring semester. You will be able to consult a curriculum chart specific to your major and will have an appointment with an academic advisor who is an expert in your field of choice. If you are undeclared, you will have an appointment with the Office of Academic Advising where your advisor will help you select classes that will help you choose a major.
Yes. All incoming students are required to fill out the academic profile online. The information you submit will be necessary for your to get a class schedule.
Transfer students have unique circumstances. Because you have already taken college classes, your transfer units need to be taken into account when you select your first semester classes. That is why we we will have a Transfer Advising Day. You will have the opportunity to come onto campus and meet with an academic advisor to select your classes. Your advisor will help you determine how your classes transferred and what classes to take during your first semester at Biola. Remember that you need to have submitted the $100 enrollment deposit and filled out the academic profile online prior to attending the transfer day.
Once you submit your $100 enrollment deposit and fill out your academic profile, we will send you an e-vite for the event. Simply RSVP to the e-vite and you will be signed up.
Absolutely! You are going to get as much personal attention regardless of whether you have the opportunity to come to campus. You will be contacted the first week of June by the Office of Academic Advising to schedule a telephone advising appointment. During that appointment time, a transfer specialist from the Academic Advising department will help you put together a class schedule using your transcript evaluation and the available classes.
We will be sending all completed class schedules on July 15 along with instructions on completing final registration. Keep your eye on the mailbox.
Aside from Transfer Day, academic advisors will not be available during the summer. The faculty members are usually not on campus at all during the summer months. However, you will be able to meet with your advisor during Orientation week in August if you have any questions.
