As a result of this program, the student will:

  1. Gain a basic understanding of the Bible and its major themes and teachings sufficient to effectively integrate learning and living with faith.
  2. Gain an understanding of basic Christian doctrine and its historical development sufficient to formulate a personal belief statement summarizing biblical teaching for each major doctrine.
  3. Learn to identify the major types of biblical literature and the interpretive methods appropriate to each genre.
  4. Learn the basic skills for appropriately applying Scripture to life in forming Christian character and informing effective Christian ministry.
  5. Learn the role of Scripture in fostering spiritual growth, develop techniques and disciplines for effecting that growth, and be motivated to engage in spiritual growth.
  6. Understand and develop skills for constructing a biblically informed worldview and for effectively integrating biblical and theological understanding with every area of life.
  7. Develop the knowledge, skills, and commitment to fulfill Christ’s commission to make disciples of all nations.
  8. Develop the biblical and theological knowledge and skills to enable critical interaction with the major intellectual, ethical, and cultural issues of our time in a consistently Christian way.
  9. Develop the knowledge, skills, and character to effectively minister to others in ways that glorify God in the context of the church and life.

455 Pauline Theology: Romans Study of Paul's theology and worldview as contained in the book of Romans.

458 Theology of Mission Study of God's redemptive acts in Scripture on behalf of mankind, with application to the mission of the church today.

465 Integration Seminar Senior level capstone seminar in which the student will search the Bible and literature that deal with a variety of topics that are offered. Each topic is integrated with Biblical truth.

480 Directed Research Guided independent reading, research, and preparation of a formal paper or project done in consultation with a selected professor.

490 Practicum Supervised experience in teaching biblical studies. Includes course preparation, observation, and evaluation.
