I've been accepted to Biola and was wondering what dorms do you recommend as good ones for freshman. I want to get to know people really well, both guys and girls. Thanks for your help!

Hey Kara,
Well congrats on your acceptance here! Hmmm...finding the best dorm is a tough decision. I can try and be of some help but my opinion is clearly biased. I enjoy living in Sigma. The first floor of Sigma is an all guy floor. The second floor one hall is girls and the other guys. The third floor is all girls, so to say it is a "co-ed" dorm does not mean boys and girls live right next to each other. We have small gatherings once or twice a month and everyone gets dressed up. If you want to make alot of friends, I recommend going to alot of social events and maybe joining a club or two. Everyone's experience is different here. I know Alpha is an all girl dorm but you meet alot of people. Every dorm has GYRAD (Get your roomate a date). You will not actually being going on a "date". The resident advisors in your hall plan a fun event and you get to meet new people.

I am a freshmen in highschool and for our i-search report we are to pick a major and college we would like to attend. Seeing that you have already accomplished my dream. attending Biola and majoring in Psychology, I was wondering what its like if I get there. I know college is hard and pychology isn't the most easiest major ever but seeing that you are able to it gives me confidence. So yea, thats what I wanted to say.

Hi Jane,
I was really touched by your e-mail. I do agree that our dreams are the same but I would just like to let you know that the dream is still not over for me. The reality in what I want to do becomes clearer to me more and more every day. Psychology is a very broad field so you would have to narrow your search even more. What do you want to do with Psychology, is there a certain emphasis that you are looking at like clinical/ counseling or child and family psychology? Of course you don't have to make a decision right away but as your first year here progresses the best thing to do to prepare you would be to seek Academic Advising. The decision of where you want to go and what you want to you is up to you, but you also need people to show you how to make those dreams a reality. I hope this answers your question. Anything you do requires alot of hard work, but if you have the desire to further your studies in that field then it makes it alot easier to go to college for four or more years. From what I have come to understand, if you want to do something with your degree in Psychology you are looking at more than four years of college.
