HI Rachel,

I'm very relieved that you are finding my entries helpful. I thought my first few days at Biola were going to be really tough. However, everyone was so friendly and helpful that I really didn't have trouble feeling connected. Being in an all girls dorm, the first week felt like one big sleep-over. lol!

The difference between us, though, is that you would be moving farther away from home than I did. :) My parents live about 45 minutes away. Did I cry? Not at first. The first time I remember crying was sometime during the end of October, when midterms came. I think stress was the reason for a lot of the emotional outbursts that occurred in the dorm, not necessarily because the parents were not there.

I hope this helps and that your applications go well.

God Bless,
Bradleigh

Hi, I am a parent of two "biracial" (b and W) children. We live in NYC. I noticed that your floor seems very ethnically diverse. I really like that. I am looking to the future for my children, so I have a few questions regarding diversity at Biola:
1. Is there as much diversity among the men as there seems to be among the woman? (going by your photo) None of the male journalists included photos of their dorm floors.
2. Is there a problem with overt or subtle racism on campus or in town?
3. Are the churches ethnically diverse?
4. Where can I go to find the ethnic breakdown of the student body? This is really important to me. I don't want my children to deal with the continual little cruelties that come with being in an environment with no diversity and many closed minds.
5. Are the professors aloof or approachable?
6. How would you rate the academics?
7. How would you rate the way the college endeavors to help you grow as a Christian?
