Just wanted to say, you're doing amazing on the LATE show! You're hilarious! You'll probably hear me on the video...I'm the one in the studio audience who laughed at everything...keep the jokes coming!

I was wondering if you had any tips for getting accepted into Biola's film program. I've already sent in my Biola application, but haven't sent in my Film application. Do you have any ideas/tips you can pass along?

Actually, Biola is technically in Los Angeles County. You have to go a little further south on the 5 to be in the OC.

hey i noticed you were from the east coast too haha... im from Delaware (if u've ever heard of it) and i just started looking at Biola but yea i've never been to CA either so im a little nervous about visiting a college so far away... how has it been for you?? do you think its worth it?

Hey Elise, sorry this is so late. When you send in your portfolio of all the stuff you've done in film, make sure you list all the projects that you've been a part of, no matter how small your involvment may seem. Experience is experience. Since you haven't sent it in yet, that tells you this is important to you and you want to make sure you can get into the program, so make sure you elaborate on how important this art is to you in the essays. Other than that, just be yourself. They look for, if I can remember the wording correctly, "incredible character" above anything else. I had fun doing my application and I hope you do too! Well, see you next year!

Sorry Kathryn...a few of us got excited here at the school when one of us though we were actually in the OC, but we were wrong! Now we just joke around and pretend that the county border runs through the dorm room next to us (where Adam Brody lives) so we're almost there!

Thanks Ben, for the encouragement!

I'm definitely one of those "perfectionist" people. So, I've been worrying about making my film application, well, perfect. :-) But from what you?ve said, I can have fun with it and totally be myself! Thanks for that!

Another question...I had heard that I need a demo reel of all my stuff (kept to a minimum, of course), do you have any tips for that? We do need a demo reel, right? Also, the film application (in whole) is due January 15th?

I'll definitely be there next year! See ya!

DANE COOK is amazing. OH YEAHHH! (oh no!)

Hey Katie,
Nope, I'm sorry I've never heard of Delaware...oh well. (I'm being sarcastic...) I'd say visiting Biola is definitely worth it. I didn't really want to come out and take a look in the first place, but now I'm really glad I did. I hadn't been to CA before I came out here to visit and I must say I'm surprised. I really like it here and I get to see a different part of the country, and the world for that matter, during my college years. You wont be alone either. I've met a lot of people from the East Coast, and the Midwest, in addition to lots of missionary kids and the like. So even if you end up not liking Biola, coming to visit is still the way to go.

All hail Dane Cook. Excuse me, I'm going to go battle a monkey for awhile...

Hey Elise,
I think they only prefer "one good example" to send in. Lots of kids here have only made one movie in their lives and that's the one they sent in. Some people had never made anything at all. They look for a lot of potential and the character type and faith of the applicant first. Of course, a movie helps! My senior year I guess I had "figured myself out" as a filmmaker and was confident enough to grab some people and just get out there and have some fun. I just sent in a goofy little music video we made and that seemed to do the trick. They teach you everything from the beginning though once you get here so I wouldnt worry about your video being Oscar-worthy or something. Well I hope that helps, Merry Christmas!
