Spiritual Life
Biola offers you the unique opportunity to strengthen and explore your faith in the context of an authentic all-Christian community. Professors who pray in class, fellow students spontaneously organizing trips to the beach for praise and worship, volunteering locally and internationally to impact the world for Christ - these will be hallmarks of your spiritual experience at Biola.
Opportunities for Spiritual Development
Chapel is offered several times each week, with student-led worship and varying speakers.
Numerous local churches offer the chance to plug in with a particular denomination or worship style.
Each year Biola hosts several conferences, each with a distinct theme and additional training.
Most Biola students participate in some kind of ministry, and Biola directly sponsors numerous service opportunities.
There are several missions opportunities available each year.
"Hearing my roommate share his salvation story with me during our first few days on campus, I experienced a jolt of excitement in my gut. Here around me are thousands of brothers and sisters in Christ."
– Tanner, Social Science
A Christ-Centered Community
In 1908, Biola was established on these principles that still guide the University nearly 100 years later:
- Every student, staff, and faculty member will be a professing Christian.
- Students will take a minimum of 32 units of Biblical Studies.
- Students will be encouraged to take part in a form of ministry or Christian service.
- Students will attend chapel, thereby bringing together the entire Biola community.
