Athletics
Athletes are welcome at Biola. Whether you want to put on the uniform and represent Biola against other GSAC schools, or you just want to compete with friends against other students on campus, get ready to test your athletic ability (or just have some fun!).
The different types of athletic competition at Biola each have their own level of intensity and required commitment. Different sports are offered at different levels, and if you don't feel like playing, you can always just be a fan.

Biola currently offers the following intercollegiate sports:
- Baseball (Men)
- Basketball (Men & Women)
- Cross Country (Men & Women)
- * Golf (Men & Women)

Club Sports
Some students form a sports team independently and compete at the local club level. These students play club teams from other colleges and regularly compete in tournaments. There are currently two competitive club teams at Biola:
- Lacrosse
- Water Polo
Intramural Sports
Most students participate at this level of sports at Biola. Teams are organized socially and compete against each other during an intramural season, climaxing in playoffs and the crowning of a league champion. Some teams practice regularly, and others show up for the weekly exercise and fun.
- Basketball (Men & Women)
- Flag Football (Men & Women)
- Soccer (coed)
- Softball (coed)
- Ultimate Frisbee (coed)
- Volleyball (coed)
"The intramural sports are amazing. I enjoy playing flag football with my floormates and dominating the rest of the school. And by dominate, I mean mentally dominate."
– Sunny, Art
"Last year was my first season of lacrosse ever. Now, lacrosse is an integral part of my life at Biola, and the guys on the team are like family to me. Plus, I get to play a sport that's like hockey, basketball, soccer, and football all together. What more could you ask for?"
– Brad, Business
Cheerleading!
Beginning in fall 2007, Biola will offer cheerleading as an official competitive activity under the direction of the athletic department. Keep checking back here and at the official athletics website for announcements regarding the coach, team expectations, and tryouts.
Suffice to say, Biola is excited to welcome back cheerleading as a vital part of building spirit and community on campus, and we look forward to an energetic and competitive Eagle cheer squad.
Midnight Madness
Throughout the year there are several unique sporting events that take place. Each gives students the opportunity to wear school colors, break out the face paint, and go a little crazy.
Midnight Madness, which marks the beginning of basketball season, is the most prominent of these events. Usually Midnight Madness happens on a Sunday night in November, with doors to Chase Gymnasium opening around 11 p.m.
Students pack the house, then watch skits and a performance by the Biola dance team. The basketball teams are introduced, go through some drills, and have a dunk competition. During the event, random prizes are given out, ranging from iPods to T-shirts.
The whole event goes past midnight, with students spilling out on campus after dark to socialize or head back for sleep. At that point, basketball season has officially begun, and the fall semester is basically halfway done.
