The department endeavors to provide:
- A strong foundational core curriculum for the student desiring to pursue graduate study in both the applied and pure fields of mathematical science
- Course work and training to prepare students for applied mathematical sciences (statistics, computer science, operations research and actuarial science) and the field of teaching
- Support courses for the curriculum

The Math Department seeks to equip students with a strong foundational core curriculum to prepare students for understanding in applied mathematical sciences and to prepare students for graduate work in the field of mathematics.
