Engineering Physics
The Biola Department of Physical Science, in cooperation with the University of Southern California's School of Engineering and Boston University's School of Engineering, offers a program allowing students interested in engineering, biblical studies and liberal arts to receive two degrees in five years. While Biola also recognizes the programs at other engineering schools, it has specific agreements only with USC.
What will I study?
The first three years are spent at Biola studying physics, chemistry, mathematics, biblical studies and the liberal arts. This coursework leads to a B.S. in physical science from Biola. The following two years are spent at the University of Southern California or another accredited engineering school completing requirements for a B.S. degree in the field of engineering chosen by the student.
Fields
- Aerospace Engineering
- Biolmedical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial and System Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Petroleum Engineering
What do engineers do?
Engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to the economical solution of practical technical problems. In that sense, they are fulfilling God's first commission for mankind, to be creative stewards and subduers of His creation (Genesis 1:28, 2:17,19). Their work is often the link between a scientific discovery and its application. In addition to design adn development, many engineers work in testing, production or maintenance.
Admissions Requirements
There are no special admission requirements for the Physical Science major
Engineering at Biola has been amazing. It has not only given me a strong base for my analytical work as an engineer, but it has also given me greater motivation in my career to be a good worker and to use engineering for the glory of God and for the betterment of others.
