Principles of the Final Exam Schedule
All undergraduate classes of two or more units are scheduled for TWO-HOUR final exams. If the professor does not desire a final exam, the final exam scheduled time above will be used for a regular class meeting.
- Courses that meet two days per
week (MW), four days per week (MTRF) or five days per week (MTWRF)
need to follow the MWF schedule above for their exam schedule. - One-unit courses require a one-hour exam. One-unit courses should follow the schedule above but only meet for the FIRST HOUR of the two-hour final exam period.
- Undergraduate courses of more than one unit that meet only one day per week cannot assume to use their room during finals week. Contact the classroom coordinator at ext. 5233 for a possible alternative classroom.
- For cross-listed undergraduate/graduate courses, all cross-listed classes will be assumed to be graduate courses with no final exam schedule. Undergraduate students should contact your professor for final exam arrangements.
As a general rule for determining the times of your final exams, use the beginning day and time of your class to match with the beginning times of the schedule above. For example, if a course meets MW 8:45-10:00 a.m., the exam time would be the same as a course meeting of MWF 8:30 a.m. (exam on W 7:30-9:30 a.m.).
Labs, discussion sections, and First Year Seminar courses will not be scheduled for exams, and should not meet for class sessions during finals week.
- Evening courses (beginning at 5 p.m. and later) will schedule their final exam from 7-9 p.m. during their first regularly scheduled evening class.
The Art, Kinesiology and Music departments will apply this schedule to the courses taught in their own facilities, which they schedule on their own.
- No final exam schedule will be established for graduate courses. Graduate students should contact your professors to determine if you will be having final exams. Graduate courses will continue to meet at regularly scheduled times and rooms during the undergraduate final exam week. Any final exams given will occur during the regular class periods.
