Parent Weekend
Parent Weekend is off to a great start, with over 250 families
participating in a variety of activities. We are so grateful for the
parents of our Biola students, because we understand that family
support is an important factor in a student's ability to succeed.
Recently our office asked students to write a tribute of thanks to
their parents. One student wrote, "Thank you for your love and support,
and for your desire to see me succeed. I would not be here today
without you." There are many more that express the same sentiment of
appreciation and gratitude. Your student really does value your
support, not only financially, but emotionally and spiritually too.
If you aren't able to be with your student this weekend, and if you
haven't spoken with them in awhile, I would encourage you to give them
a phone call or drop them an e-mail. I'm sure they would love to hear
from you!
On the journey with you,
Colleen Heykoop
Manager of Parent Relations

Centennial
Celebrations
|
|

From July 2007
through June 2008,
Biola celebrates a century of faithfulness! Enjoy the year and bring
your family and friends to commemorate the University's legacy and to
celebrate its promising future.
Be sure to save the date for November 3 and plan
a trip down to Biola for Biolafest: A Homecoming Revival.
This day full of music and fun will take place at Biola and reunite the
generations. With a $5 lunch on the lawn and music from a
variety of different performers, the day is great for the whole
family. This free event will feature games, a classic car
show, and music from the Biola Gospel Choir, Jimmy Fisher, and close
with a concert by Mercy Me. Reconnect with old classmates at the
"Decade Walk" and meet new Biolans while enjoying an old-fashioned BBQ
and classic revival...even dollar carnival games benefiting student
missions teams! This event is free, but please bring a pair
of new shoes to donate
for our “Steps from Hope” shoe drive to benefit the
Union Rescue Mission. No reservations are needed for this
event.
For more information on upcoming Centennial events and to view pictures

Saturday, October 20, 9 am - 5 pm
The Bible is different than the
“sacred” books of other religions in that the Bible
corresponds tightly to the hard facts of history. Skeptics and
unbelievers who want to dismiss the Bible as myth and fairytale have
been proved wrong time and again by the stones that cry out through the
science of archeology.
Our guide will be Dr. John Bloom who holds two Ph.D.s and is known for
his visually striking presentations of the digs, the artifacts, and the
documents that show the Bible to be a reliable record of
God’s work in history.

Wonder
why your student is playing dodge-ball at 10 o'clock on a Wednesday
night? It's a little something we like to call intramural
sports. Teams are organized socially and compete against each other
during an intramural season, climaxing in playoffs and the crowning of
a league champion. Some teams practice regularly, and others just show
up for the weekly exercise and fun.
Sports
include:
Tennis
(Men & Women)
Dodge-ball (coed)
Basketball (Men & Women)
Flag Football (Men & Women)
Soccer (coed)
Softball (coed)
Ultimate Frisbee (coed)
Volleyball (coed)
