Greeting

In the life of a University, weeks like this do not come around very often.  This past week the Biola community began the process of mourning the loss, and yet celebrating the life, of our beloved President Emeritus Clyde Cook.  Yet, this was not all the week held. Wednesday began Biola’s annual Missions Conference.  This week, students had the opportunity to listen as renowned speaker Luis Palau reflected on Dr. Cook’s life.  In addition, students also had the privilege of listening to Libby Little, a godly woman who has served the past 30 years in Afghanistan, as she told stories of the saving power of the whole gospel. It only seems appropriate that Dr. Cook, being the child of missionaries, and serving as a missionary himself, would be remembered amidst a week designed to stir and educate the next generation of missionaries.  To say that Dr. Cook held high God’s Mission would be an understatement.  He was a man whose whole life was surrendered to that Mission.  So as the week comes to a close, as a community we celebrate a God who is mighty to save and who has victory over death!

Blessings to you,

Mallory Rae

Parent's Corner

Summer is almost here!

A Few things to keep in mind:

1. Summer housing is available for current students.  All students planning to live in University housing during summer must sign up in the Housing Office beginning May 5th. Summer Housing is not available to students who have graduated or withdrawn from the University as of the end of the spring semester.  Students who transition to summer housing will be allowed to stay in their current dorm rooms until Sunday May 25th.  On the 25th all summer students will have to vacate their current rooms and move to a new room in Alpha.  There is a weekly fee.

2. Students will be completing the first round of Web-Reg April 21st through May 16th, 2008.  During this stage students are only required to select their classes.  Then July 28th through August 19th, students must complete phase two of Web-Reg, which requires updating address, housing, meal plan, parking, health insurance, and billing information.  It is at the end of this phase that a deposit for Fall of 2008 is required.  Phase two of Web-Reg will not be complete until that deposit is made.

3. Survival Sacks for Finals Week may be purchased from the Department of Spiritual Life.  An easy way to encourage your student through finals, and to support student ministries.  Call 562.903.4754 for more information.
