Next week we will move into the Spring season. The days are getting longer. The temperature is warming. Flowers and trees are blooming. What a welcome season after cold, dark, and wet days. Just as our climate changes seasons so do our seasons of parenting. As parents of Biola students you are in one of a few possible seasons. Your first child has left home and come to Biola. You are probably in the process of figuring out new ways of communicating and staying involved in your student's decision making. If you have multiple children, you may have your second or third child at Biola. You’re used to your student being more independent and you’ve figured out to some extent your new role as a consultant rather than a coach calling the shots. You may have sent your last child off to Biola and you’re experiencing the “empty nest” years. You may be figuring out a new rhythm of living with your spouse now that you have just the two of you at home. You may be ecstatic that your kids have all reached adulthood and you’re breathing a sigh of relief. Whatever season you are experiencing I trust you are learning the joys that this particular season holds. When that season wears on and you’re ready for a change be assured that just as the weather changes so too will your parenting season of life. It will come with freshness, anticipation, and a few struggles just as the beauty of spring makes some folks contend with hayfever. God’s promise to us is, “I will never leave you or forsake you”. My prayer is that as you learn to relate to your student, your spouse, and your other children in each new season that you will also find new truths and strength in the Lord. Enjoying the season, Stan & Lynda Higgins ![]() Students: Lindsey ('05) Jared ('09) Have any questions or comments for Stan and Lynda? Financial Aid is making some changes! The Biola Financial Aid Office is undergoing some exciting changes during this year, one of which is the implementation of a new software and database system that will allow them to serve you better. As Financial Aid begins a season of transition there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, there will be a change in the Counseling Hours, beginning March 17th, and until further notice. (See below for changes) Secondly this year, more than ever, students are encouraged to file their FAFSA early and turn in all requested paperwork to the Financial Aid office as soon as possible. This will help greatly in getting you and your student the financial aid information you need, and in getting your file ready for Web Registration this summer. Students can keep up to date by checking their file’s status and any items needed on the Portal under Financial Aid Tracking. As always, please feel free to contact the Financial Aid office at (562) 903-4742, or finaid@biola.edu if you have any questions. New Counseling Hours: 1:30-3:30 PM, Monday-Friday for walk-in appointments and phone calls. |
