Share a little about your experience with Biola.
We were so comfortable having our son at Biola. We are alumni and thought that Biola was great when we attended. A lot has changed at Biola since we were students, and the changes have made Biola even better! As a law enforcement officer, I am especially happy about the decision to add security booths at the entrances of campus. It’s obvious that Biola is concerned not only for their students’ spiritual and academic growth, but also for their safety.

What is your impression of Biola’s academic reputation and your son’s academic experience while at Biola?
Our son majored in Biology at Biola, which is a rigorous program. We knew he was well prepared since he was able to get into Loma Linda Medical School. But his level of preparation was confirmed when he received a very impressive score on his first Organic Chemistry exam. At the "White Coat" Ceremony, when first year medical students receive their medical coats, we met several parents of Benny's new classmates. When we shared that our son graduated from Biola, we received nothing but affirming nods as to the academic preparation that Biola provides.

How do you believe Biola has helped your son for life after college?
Biola not only prepared our son for admission to a reputable medical school, but it also helped him solidify his Christian faith and be able to defend it. Our son is privileged to have been involved with the same small group of young men, led by the same small group leader, for the past nine years. The young men all went to different colleges after high school, but continue to communicate with each other and get together on occasion. They took a little trip last year, and from what our son tells us, he was able to share what he had been learning concerning Christian apologetics, and challenged his friends to know why they believe.

Do you feel that Biola was a good financial investment for your family?
President [Emeritus] Clyde Cook asked me this same question when we attended an honors ceremony for our son. We knew that having our son at Biola would require sacrifice, but in our minds we knew the end result would be worth it. And as I said to President Cook at the time, every dollar we borrowed and every over-time hour I worked was more than worth it, seeing the godly character that was being developed and reinforced in our son.
