Room Rates

  • Housing rates listed below are based on planned room occupancy:
    • two persons per room in residence hall rooms
    • three persons per room in Hope and Horton designed triples
    • one person per room in Emerson, Hope and Horton singles
    • three persons per apartment in Welch
    • four persons per apartment in Li and Tropicana apartments, and Lido Mirada, Beachcomber and Tradewind two-bedroom units
    • two or three persons per apartment in one-bedroom Lido Mirada, Tradewind and Beachcomber units.
  • Residents of discounted triple occupancy rooms will pay a reduced housing rate for the semester only if three occupants are assigned to the room at the time of the semester billing (September 15 or February 15). Multiply the double-occupancy semester rate by .67 to calculate the discounted triple rate.
  • No triple discounts are given for the time period students reside in temporary overflow triple rooms.
  • Single occupants of a double occupancy room may be provided the opportunity to remain as the sole occupant if 1) there is no waiting list for that hall, floor or building, and 2) they agree to pay the additional 30% charge to “buy out” the vacant space (see Vacancies). Multiply the double-occupancy rate by 1.3 to calculate the "buy out" rate for a given room. All furnishings must remain in the room even though a vacancy has been “bought out”.
  • If at any time you move into an empty room you will be required to “buy out” the room at the additional 30% rate.
  • If your apartment has a vacancy you may be provided the opportunity to keep that space vacant if 1) there is no waiting list for that apartment building and 2) you agree to pay the additional 30% charge to “buy out” the vacant space. Multiply the double-occupancy rate by 1.3 to calculate the "buy out" rate for a given room. All furnishings must remain in the apartment even though a vacancy has been “bought out”.
