Biola Film to Premiere at American Film Institute

A Biola film titled, "Mujo No Kaze: The Wind of Impermanence" will premiere on Dec. 1 at 8:30 p.m. at the Mark Gordon theater at the American Film Institute.

The film was written and directed by Biola assistant professor of cinema and media arts, Dean Yamada and produced by Michael Gonzales, another Biola film professor.

Students from Biola's cinema and media arts department traveled to Japan last interterm to work on a film written and directed by Biola assistant professor of cinema and media arts, Dean Yamada.

Ten students from Biola's cinema and media arts department traveled with Yamada to Japan last interterm to work on the film. The actors were cast in Japan and the film was done entirely in Japanese with English subtitles. The group worked in conjunction with Christians in the Arts Network (CAN), which is based in Tokyo.

According to director, Dean Yamada, the film is "about finding hope in the midst of depression, suicide, and the futility of life."

The film has been submitted to Sundance Film Festival for consideration.
