Reynolds discusses papacy on NBC 4 News

John Mark Reynolds, associate professor of philosophy and director of the Torrey Honors Institute, was featured on NBC 4 News in Los Angeles on April 1 regarding the effect Pope John Paul II has had on the papacy.

Excerpts from the segment:

Reynolds: He loved people; he looked like he loved people. He was empowered by being with people. That changed the way the papacy will be viewed, I think, forever.

Reynolds: This pope understood that without changing doctrine. He was willing to change the way the message was packaged.

Reynolds: He has to be the most photographed pope in the history of the world. You don't have to do that. There are ways of avoiding that. You can go in the back entrance instead of the front. You don't have to get off the airplane and kiss the ground in every country you go to.
