Biolans Finish 9th in National Debate
The Biola Forensics team attended the National Parliamentary Debate Tournament and finished 9th overall in sweepstakes at the tournament.
The team of Joey Mavity and Benjamin Rohrs finish the preliminary round with a 6-2 preliminary round record, and received a bye to the triple octofinal round where they lost a tough 1-2 decision to a team from the Claremont Colleges. Andrew Bailey and Timothy Heggem finished with a 5-3 prelim record and received a bye into the triple octofinal round. They also dropped out of the tournament on a tough 1-2 decision to a team from Lewis and Clark College. The team of Caleb Winn and Danielle Jorgensen had a preliminary record of 5-3 and had to debate in the partial quad-octofinal round. They beat a team from Humboldt State on a 2-1 decision before dropping out in triple octofinals to a team from Claremont on a 0-3 decision. Though not advancing to the elimination rounds, the Christian College Tournament National Champion team of Stephen Mar and Bryan Cleveland had a 4-4 record in prelims which helped Biola garner it's 9th place National ranking.
