books

Nancy Pearcey, a visiting scholar at Biola's Torrey Honors Institute, was featured on C-SPAN 2 twice in December. During the program, Pearcey discussed the nature of the relationship between Christianity and public life, issues that are featured in her new book "Total Truth: Liberating Christianity from It's Cultural Captivity."

In the book, Pearcey also explores the role of Christianity in politics, and conversely, the role of politics in Christianity. She emphasizes the importance of expanding the application of Christianity to all aspects of the world, rather than just one's life.

As a visiting scholar, Pearcey gives lectures and seminars on Christian worldview to Torrey students. Torrey's use of visiting scholars allows the students to learn from experts who are not able to teach full time. During the 2005 spring semester, Pearcey will be teaching one course at Biola, Advanced Studies in Christian Worldview. Pearcey is also the Francis A. Schaeffer Scholar at the World Journalism Institute, where "Total Truth" serves as the basis for a worldview curriculum.
