Compassion International President Addresses Graduates

Dr. Wesley Stafford

Dr. Wesley Stafford, president of the Christian relief agency Compassion International and a Biola alumnus, delivered the commencement address at both the undergraduate and graduate ceremonies. Stafford was also presented with an honorary doctorate by Biola university president, Dr. Clyde Cook.

"I am pleased to be able to honor Dr. Wesley Stafford with an honorary doctorate in recognition of his effective ministry to needy children around the world through Compassion International," said President Cook. "As a graduate of Biola University, his tireless efforts to bring both spiritual healing and physical relief to millions of suffering children serve as a powerful model for this year's 800 graduating students."

As enrollment figures continue to rise, so do the number of graduates participating in Biola's spring commencement ceremonies each year. And this year promises to be no exception with approximately 590 students participating in undergraduate ceremonies and 215 students participating in graduate ceremonies. Approximately 9,000 well-wishers attended both ceremonies.

Graduate commencement was held at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 28, and undergraduate commencement was held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 29. Both ceremonies took place on Biola's Metzger Lawn.
