Student Orientation Website Receives National Award
Biola’s Student Orientation Service (SOS) recently received an award from the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) for its newly launched Web site. NODA presented its Outstanding Orientation Web Site Award to Biola SOS leaders at the NODA conference in Seattle in October of 2003.
SOS works to provide freshmen and transfer students with a smooth and successful transition to Biola. All incoming students are placed in SOS groups at the start of their first semester at Biola. These groups participate in orientation events designed to allow students to become better acquainted with the university and other incoming students.
The new website not only provides these incoming students with resources about orientation events and class schedules, but also with a direct line of communication to the SOS staff.
"Our orientation website is more than a website. It functions as our program’s backbone," said SOS Student Webmaster Jeremy Riney. "The SOS website was built with the belief that personal interaction is the key, and our site was designed to reflect that view."
NODA was chartered in 1976 to provide education, leadership and professional development in the fields of college student orientation, transition and retention.
