Veggie Tales Creator Speaks at Biola Commencement

Big Ideas founder and Chief Creative Officer Phil Vischer delivered the commencement address to Biola's December graduates on Friday, December 19. Approximately 300 students participated in the two separate commencement ceremonies.

Vischer is responsible for the creation of the enormously popular animated series Veggie Tales, which features computer-animated vegetables that illustrate Biblical values. To date, more than 30 million Veggie Tales videos and 3 million audio CDs have been sold. Since Vischer created the series in 1991, the popular characters have been seen on DVDs, T-shirts, backpacks, children's books and even the big screen.

While the success of Big Idea has been financially rewarding, the company's primary goal has not been related sales, but instead to make an impact on the culture. In an internal publication, Vischer outlines the company's ultimate mission. "At Big Idea, we pursue great art because we are convinced that great art - combined with great storytelling - can change the world."
