Biola University and Walden Media are pleased to present an exclusive screening of C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Buy your tickets through Biola for the opportunity to see the movie before it hits theatres nationwide and attend this once-in-a-lifetime premiere. The magical red carpet event will take place at Downtown Disney AMC Theaters on Thursday, December 8th at 6:45 PM, 9:45 PM and 11:59PM.

The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, written by C. S. Lewis, weaves an enchanted tale of four siblings, Peter, Susan, Edmond and Lucy who are transported into an enchanted world through a wardrobe where they meet dwarves, fauns, centaurs and other talking creatures. In a fantasy world that is cursed with winter, the children are thrust into a battle where they learn the reality of good and evil.

Mark Joseph, of MJM Entertainment who worked as a consultant for 4 1/2 years for Walden Media, and Ned Lott, Senior Manager of Disney Character Voices, are two Biola alumni that have played roles in the development and production of the Narnia film. An early inspiration for this exciting new film was born out of a key meeting at the Biola Media Conference.

Biola’s personal relationship with Mark Joseph and The Chronicles of Narnia began when Biola students in a Principles of Advertising class were commissioned by Motive Marketing (the Passion of the Christ) and Walden Media to develop marketing strategies for the Narnia films as a class assignment. The students’ hands-on learning influenced a decision to give Biola the opportunity to host this exclusive premiere, an offer Integrated Marketing Communications could not pass up!

Joseph and Lott are not the only Biola alumni to have an impact in Hollywood. Scott Derrickson has recently seen his name in lights with the release of his movie “The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” a horror film that earned $30.2 million during its first week at the box office. Derrickson directed and co-wrote the film after graduating from the Biola.

The Biola Film/Television/Radio/Journalism department is responsible for this recent emergence of Biola graduates making their mark in the film industry. The program boasts a strong faculty who are continuing to stay active in the industry and immediate student access to a wide range of film equipment, allowing students hands-on experience in filmmaking—a rarity for many other film schools.

Also stemming from the FTRJ department is Biola’s Studio Task Force, a tool that networks students with professionals on both sides of the camera, and burgeoning film communities such as the Guerilla Film Society, in which students convene to create, produce, and display their film talents.

The FTRJ department also sponsors the Biola Media Conference, an annual conference that brings together Christian media professionals. The Biola Media Conference provides the opportunity for students to network with media professionals and learn how to integrate their faith with their craft.

IMC has sold over 4,500 tickets to various departments and campus groups and encouraged the Associated Students to make the Premiere their Winter Formal. Biola is incredibly excited for the opportunity to have such an active role in the promotion of positive media within pop culture. This is yet another realm in which it becomes clear that Biola is truly a Global Center for Christian Thought and Spiritual Renewal through its ability to offer unwavering, Biblical truth with cultural relevance.
