Homecoming Weekend
Sweetheart Dinner
Love was definitely in the air at the Sweetheart Dinner, an event planned for couples who met and married while at Biola. The Cafeteria Banquet was transformed into a romantic setting, using a beautiful purple and amber color scheme.
Guests had been asked to bring a wedding photo and, upon arrival, guests were welcomed to enjoy the displayed pictures. A photo booth was on hand so that couples could take home a tangible memento of the evening.
The menu featured a salmon entree and was capped with a dessert of chocolate-dipped strawberries, all prepared and served by Bon Appetit, the outstanding catering company that services all of the University’s events.
The after-dinner program began with three songs-in Italian, French and English-by the Conservatory of Music’s Shaya Greathouse, a junior performance major. She was accompanied by professional musician Axel Schmitt.
Rick Bee then played emcee with a roving microphone, giving guests the opportunity to share their Biola love story. David Toyer (’89) told of meeting the woman who would become his wife, Angela (’92), at Biola-and going to great lengths to impress her. Then a junior, David jumped from the balcony of Stewart Hall to impress the new freshman who had caught his eye immediately.
