Accessing email via Local Network or the Web
Biola uses FirstClass software to support email communications. The system is also known as the Biola University Bulletin Board System, or BUBBS. There are two main ways to access BUBBS: 1) Using the FirstClass client software and a Local Network connection; and 2) BUBBS via the Web.

Option 1: BUBBS via FirstClass (FC) software
1. Make sure you have installed the FC software before beginning this tutorial. You can download a copy of the installer here or from Firstclass.com. Save the installer to your desktop and double-click on it to launch the installer.

2. Once you’ve installed the Firstclass Client on your computer, follow these steps to configure it.

  1. First, access the connection configuration window by clicking on the “Setup” button in the “Login” window.

  2. Once you are in the configuration window, select Local Network.FCP from the “Connect Via:” pull down menu. In this dialogue box, you may also configure this settings file to remember your User ID and/or Password. To do this, simply type this information into the appropriate fields. In the lower half of the window, type “fc.biola.edu” in the “Server:” field. Click on “Save” to save any changes. This will return you to the Login window. If you are not on the campus network, to log into BUBBS using this setting, you must first connect to the Internet via your Internet provider (AOL, MSN, Biola PPP, etc.).
