Does Everyone Have a Calling?
Yes.  God calls every person.  We can understand the call of God in three distinct ways.   Although each of these ways is important and all are part of the interrelated whole of our lives, it is the third way which is the primary focus of our discussion here.

Call to be a Christian
God invites us to respond to his love and become his followers.  This is the call to know and love God and to love and serve others. 

Call to Live for God in Immediate Context
God also calls each person to live life in a specific context – within a particular family, geographic location, and time frame.  Within this context there comes specific responsibilities and duties.  God calls us to be responsible to those tasks that are part of our immediate context.

Call to a Specific Vocation
For each individual there is a specific call, a specific vocation – a defining purpose or mission, a reason for being.  Every person is called of God to respond uniquely through service in the world.  This calling can be expressed in multiple ways and contexts, something through work and sometimes not.
