CV Document (PDF)

Carolyn Kim serves as the Public Relations and Corporate Communications faculty member in the Journalism Department. Her background includes working with national and global clients such as Chuck Colson, James Dobson, Compassion International and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Bringing a wide range of PR experience with her, Carolyn has worked in corporate, non-profit, and agency settings. Fascinated by the changing landscape of PR and digital technology, she has focused recently in helping clients develop strong digital strategies to reach their audiences.

A graduate of Biola University, Carolyn received her degree in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations. With a commitment to communication and faith integration, Carolyn went on to receive her MA in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. For her, being an effective communications professional in the world of PR would not be complete without a solid and biblically informed worldview to guide the conversation. Currently studying for her PhD in Communications at Regent University, Carolyn is also a speaker and author for Social Media and Search Engine Optimization.

Maintaining an active role in the professional world of PR, Carolyn is a private consultant for a variety of PR focuses including branding, digital communication and conversation management. Her clients include both non-profit, corporate and individuals. She is also a member of the Public Relation Society of American (PRSSA), serving on the 7th Annual Diversity Conference Committee for Orange County and with the Young Professionals in the Orange County Chapter.

In the academic world, Carolyn is a member of several organizations including the Religious Communications Association, the Western States Communication Association and the National Communication Association. She is currently serving with the PR division of the National Communication Association as the Graduate Student Coordinator by helping create community and involvement among Grad students within the organization.

When not focusing on public relations, Carolyn enjoys spending time outdoors, learning about the Korean culture and serving in the college and high school groups at Clay Jars Korean Church where her husband, KiYong, is serving as a youth pastor.
