I graduated from Biola University in 2002 with a degree in Christian Education. My education from Biola prepared me in so many ways for the ministry I am now doing. As the Creative Programming Coordinator for the Children's Ministry at Mariners Church in Irvine, CA, I constantly rely on the Biblical knowledge I learned at Biola. But it was the leadership training, teaching and creative skills I developed through the classes I took that prepared me for the ministry I now do vocationally.
It is through this program at Biola that I was able to realize and form my personal philosophy of ministry and hear God's call in my life to impact children's lives for Christ. The personal mentoring I had by the professors in the Christian Ed. department had such a huge impact on me spiritually. The professors also challenged my growth in leadership and teaching, giving me opportunities to practice these skills and develop them. They had a unique and personal interest in my development as a minister of Christ as well as my spiritual growth. These relationships, as well as the experience I obtained through the Internship program required, helped me become who I am today.
I would recommend the CE Degree at Biola because of the wide range of practical skills it teaches - from philosophy to interpersonal relationships, the degree exceptionally prepares you for the professional world of ministry. The professors strive to see you succeed in what you do by teaching skills you will use daily in ministry, as well as give you the practical experience you need through classes and internship programs.
