Associate Professor of Art
Jonathan Anderson is an artist, art critic, and Associate Professor of Art at Biola University, where he has been teaching since 2006.
He is an actively exhibiting artist whose work is heavily influenced by 20th-century philosophy, particularly as it pertains to the figure-ground relationship in painting. His research and writing focuses on modern and contemporary art with a particular interest in bringing contemporary art and Christian theology into more meaningful conversation and mutual understanding. Professor Anderson has given scholarly presentations at Yale University (Society for Christian Scholarship in Music) and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (Association of Scholars of Christianity in the History of Art) and has received research fellowships from the Center for Christian Thought and the Nagel Institute.
