Liberal Studies Major

The liberal studies major equips Biola students with a wide academic foundation — ideal for those who plan to teach in an elementary school classroom. The program is also an option for students who want a broad liberal arts education before entering careers in business or government or moving on to seminary or law school.

Those preparing to become elementary school teachers are able to earn a teaching credential at the same time as a bachelor's degree. This route can be completed in as few as four years for students who take full advantage of summer and interterm courses. Most liberal studies students, however, take four years to complete the bachelor's degree and teacher preparation courses and then return for one semester of student teaching to finish earning the credential.
