Program Requirements
To earn a California Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential as a graduate through Biola's Teacher Preparation Program, a student must complete:
- A 2-unit prerequisite course;
- 25 units of teacher preparation coursework; and
- Additional state-required exams and certification.

SEED 541: Methods of Teaching Linguistically Diverse Students (3)
SEED 506: Secondary Curriculum (4 units)
SEED 518: Designing Successful Classrooms: Starting Right (3)
(SEED 518 is required only for those students planning to student teach under contract or with an intern credential. Must be taken the summer prior to Secondary Student Teaching.)
SEED 514 & 515: Secondary Student Teaching (12)
All teacher preparation courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or higher with the exception of Secondary Student Teaching, which must be completed with a grade of "B-" or higher. Overall, a 2.75 GPA must be maintained in the teacher preparation course sequence.
Exams
All exams must be passed prior to student teaching.
- CBEST
- U.S. Constitution (approved coursework or exam)
- Subject Matter Preparation
- State-Approved Program or CSET Examination
Other
- CPR Certification (infant, child and adult)
