"As I listened on my car radio to the business news station program, 'Marketplace,' they were running a report on the San Diego Padres baseball team and their outstanding attendance figures — despite a dismal record. The reporter asked a former University of San Diego professor for his insight as to how the ball club was able to maintain such a loyal fan base.
